A two-pan oven plan

How to Cook Thanksgiving Dinner With One Oven

A smaller oven can still produce a coordinated Thanksgiving dinner. This example serves at 6:00 PM and fits a turkey breast, stuffing, green bean casserole, and rolls into an oven with room for two pans.

Start with the longest dish

The turkey breast cooks first at 325°F for 2 hours 30 minutes. It comes out at 5:00 PM, leaving a 60-minute rest and holding window while the oven moves to 350°F for the sides.

The exact cook time and doneness check must come from the recipe you are using. The timeline coordinates the oven around those instructions.

Use the second pan space twice

Stuffing and green bean casserole enter together at 5:15 PM. At 5:45 PM, the green beans come out and the rolls take that same pan space. Stuffing stays in place until dinner.

The oven never holds more than two pans, and every side remains at 350°F from 5:15 PM through serving.

A four-dish schedule for 6:00 PM

This second example uses a different serving time and oven capacity from the five-dish flagship plan, so you can see how the same method adapts to a smaller oven.

The turkey breast finishes 60 minutes before dinner. Follow your recipe's resting and holding directions; if it is being hot-held, verify it stays at or above 140°F. Hold the green beans for their final 15 minutes as directed by the recipe.

Common questions

Questions about this cooking plan

Can I use this timeline for a whole turkey?

Use the cook time and temperature for your whole-turkey recipe instead. A longer centerpiece changes the first oven-in time, but the planner can keep the same 6:00 PM deadline.

What if only one pan fits beside the turkey?

In this example the turkey cooks alone. The two-pan capacity matters after it comes out, when stuffing shares the oven first with green beans and then with rolls.
